Why learn economics by reading textbooks? A new book offers a different way to study economics. In 17 interviews leading economists describe their motives to become an economist, their theoretical background and the development of economic theory and policies from their point of view. The collection comprises interviews with economists who are all in a certain way unconventional. May it be their CV, their theoretical statements or their way of presenting economics. In all cases the interviews are worthwhile reading. Although, I have to say, as a co-editor I’m a little bit biased…
Here are the interviewees: Philip Arestis, Anthony Atkinson, Barbara R. Bergmann, Amit Bhaduri, Paul Davidson, Diane Elson, Charles A.E. Goodhart, Geoffrey C. Harcourt, John E. King, Jan Kregel, Jürgen Kromphardt, Kazimierz Laski, Stephen Marglin, Basil Moore, Hajo Riese, Kurt W. Rothschild, and Malcolm Sawyer.
